wall

I wondered
if you would see past
the blatant retreat
in my voice
when you asked
what was wrong.
“the wall.
it’s blank,
and it is so wrong.”
so wrong to be
pointing out
what is in front of me
to push away
all that bothers me.
I wondered
if you could see that.
because it is so easy
to shut me up
and even more
of a challenge
to get me to talk.
I wanted to be
so wrong
when you stopped
and joined the wall
in front of me.
